The TCP for Clean and Efficient Combustion (referred to as the Combustion TCP) held its 41^st Task Leaders Meeting (TLM) in Montreux, Switzerland from November 3-8, 2019. The TLM is a unique event that provides an opportunity for the leaders of the Combustion TLM collaborative tasks to bring the task participants together for detailed technical exchanges as well as programmatic coordination.  The tasks involved were the seven current tasks in the TLM on Gas Engines, Gas Turbines, Low Temperature Combustion, Sprays in Combustion, Soot, Solid Fuels and Combustion Chemistry, plus a likely new task on Systems Analysis and an exploratory task on Exhaust Aftertreatment for combustion systems. 

      This year more than 50 researchers and program managers attended from all 11 countries participating in the TLM.  The TLM was organized by the Carina Alles (the Combustion TCP Chair) and Stephan Renz, both from SFOE in Switzerland.  Contributions from guest speakers from Convergent Science, ETH Zürich, and ETSAP/PSI enriched the broader discussion on the role of combustion modeling, advanced combustion-based technologies and advanced fuels in future energy systems.

      In addition, this year a joint workshop involving the Combustion TCP and the Advanced Motor Fuels TCP was held during the TLM on November 6^th.  The workshop discussion focused on mutual advanced motor fuel and combustion technology research issues and potential areas for future collaboration between the two TCPs.  (See the following tab to the left for more information on the joint workshop.)
